2017 Missions update
This summer has been an active one for Mission opportunities. Here are some of the highlights of what transpired. We will begin working on trips and outreaches for 2018 towards the end of the year so you can plan vacations and start saving your money to join us on one of our trips next year. Watch here and the ENews Letter for more details.
Back Yard Bible Clubs
This year we had 5 clubs across the area, Andover, Bellaire, west Wichita, south Wichita, and right across the street from the church. In each club, children discovered how much God loves them and that He has a plan for their lives. Please pray as the different teams follow up with families of the children who attended and that God will bring to harvest the seed that were planted this summer.
The trip this year was dubbed a “Hammer and Nail” trip. The team participated in projects ranging from moving rocks, fixing storm doors, hanging sheet rock, and painting that blessed many different people. They also had the opportunity to Worship with Pastor Chris and the SummitLife family while they were there. God used our men to support and bless this new ministry.
Smith Center, Kansas
This partnership was one of our very first endeavors. Our team this year was called on to again assist in helping them host their VBS. It was another great year with over 50 children in attendance each day. This year the team also worked with people from the church to help train them to lead out in future events like VBS. It was a blessing to see these people step up and get excited about taking a more active role in their church. Besides VBS, the team helped with a family night for the city at the city pool, blessed both Pastor Todd and his wife Gaye with some special things, and worshiping with the Central Community Church family.
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Our team was one of the first to serve alongside Pastor Aaron as he is planting a new work in the Khatslano area in Vancouver. The team served at a citywide event by volunteering to serve as needed, did a project for a church there in Vancouver Redemption Church, and did prayer walks in the neighborhood where the new church will be planted. This team got to experience church planting in the earliest stages. They also were able to worship with Westside Church, the local sponsoring church for Pastor Aaron, on Sunday.
This is our first year to partner with Pastor Jared and New Story church in Seattle. New Story is located in an area called Sky Way. Our team spent the week working with an event called “Man Up Camp”. The camp is geared to help young men from age 6-18 learn some basic building skills, car care, and what it looks like to be a real man in God’s eyes. The team served as small group facilitators, project overseers, small group helpers, material gatherers, and anything other assignment given to them by Pastor Jared. The team also was able to enjoy worshiping with Pastor Jared and the New Story church family.
