Everyone knows what it is to face a problem or crisis—whether it is a family disagreement, broken relationship, regret, illness or addiction. Where do these problems come from? According to the Bible, in the beginning, God created a perfect world and humans were meant to experience fulfillment in a relationship with God. However, God gave humans a choice to love Him and be blessed or reject Him and suffer the consequences. Sadly, we chose life without God—a choice that brought evil, suffering, and death into the world. We all still make bad choices called “sin.” The Bible says, “Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
While human actions seemed to destroy the world, God had a plan to restore humans to a place of relationship with Him. God sent His Son, Jesus, to come live the perfect life that we never lived and to die the death we deserved. The Bible says, “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” By dying in our place, Jesus paid our penalty. Then, on the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, showing that He is the hope of life. Meaningful, transformed, and unending life is God’s gift to you—“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You have done nothing to receive forgiveness and cannot earn God’s favor by trying to be a good person. However, when you make a decision to turn from your sin and turn toward Jesus, you receive the gift of eternal life. If you want to be forgiven now and enter into a relationship with Jesus, pray a prayer in which you say:
- I’m sorry—I’m sorry God; forgive me of my sins and mistakes.
- Thank you—Thank you Jesus for dying for my sins and rising again.
- Please—Please help me to live my life for you, Jesus.
The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom 10:9).
